French streets in Pondicherry

Pondicherry has retained its "French quarters" by the sea side as shown in the picture below. INTACH (Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage) is an Indian organisation devoted to heritage conservation and awareness in India. The NGO is based in Pondicherry and has a website that contains all the information on the town's architechture.
