Take India home

playclanDelhi-based design house, Play Clan, brings its brand of vibrant fashion and lifestyle products to Suffren Street, Pondicherry

Quirky. Kitschy. Fun. That's how one would describe the clothes and home accessories from Play Clan. With seven stores across the country, and one in Chennai as well at Anna Salai, Teynampet, the Delhi brand has chosen to expand to Pondicherry. "We tell our stories through our products and Pondicherry, with its cultural backdrop, was our dream destination," shares Himanshu Dogra, the founder of the four year-old Play Clan. You will find fashionable casual wear like, jackets, tees and boxers, as well as a vibrant home decor range. "We hope to make the mundane magical. Each product tells a story about an everyday observation – sometimes a traffic jam is an inspiration for our tees, or we place our Gods as friendly icons on cushions or clipboards, right beside us," Dogra elaborates.

Of Gods and bazaars

playclan4The award-winning brand offers product that combines fashion, art and design, with interesting themes, all reflecting an Indian sensibility. There are design-oriented graphic tees in bright red, yellow and blue as well as fun stationery like journals, clipboards (apart from magazines), inspired by auto rickshaws, deities, taxis and more. The designers at Play Clan like to take inspiration from their surroundings, the bright lights of India or colours from the local bazaar. So some collections reflect that, while others draw from elements of graphic design. With reasonable priced, from `` upwards, the brand is accessible to everyone.

Made to blend

New products will be showcased every month and a new collection every other month, but for now, don't miss their line of furniture and crockery. As for why Play Clan is different from any other lifestyle brand, Dogra sums it up with, “Because our designer products are inspired by local culture and life and interpreted in a playful way.
