The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, has recently decided to harden the conditions for getting a "tourism visa" for India. Some of these conditions are practical since January 2nd, 2015, and the others will be practical on next May 1st, 2015. On January 9th, 2015, he finally decided to stop the deliverance of the PIO (Person of Indian Origins) cards.

This type of visa, only made for people of Indian origins, including people from Pondicherry, will be merged into OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) cards. Thus, this change will extend the advantages of the OCI beneficiaries and will clarify the consular system.

French people of Indian origins will be able to put a request for an OCI card at the Embassy of India in Paris, and in province. This new procedure has been decided in November, 2014, in order to make easier the visa process for the Indo French community. The new centers of visa and OCI request are located in Paris, Lyon, Marseille, Strasbourg and Bordeaux.
