Created by a young lady, Rajkala, the association was born in july 2000. With solid exprience in social work, Rajkala was able to focus immediately on the areas where there were needs : Social with the vulnerable communities; Education with children (school fees sponsorship) Financial with micro-credit and Health and Nutrition with the production of Spirulina.

The Indian team, composed of 15 employees, work here and a non-commercial association was created in France in order to find funds and support the projects in India.

Spirulina is a seaweed, more precisely a micro-seaweed that grows in brackish water and offers multiple advantages : easy to grow in hot regions (small need of water, long conservation)...), it is a efficient solution to malnutrition.

Spirulina is an excellent food supplyment and its composition offers exceptional properties : 65% of proteins (soya contains 35%), it is also rich in minerals and vitamins. Spirulina is sometimes called the "anti-fatigue seaweed", it is also a strong immune system booster and suits all ages- from baby to sportsman, teenager to elderly, child to pregnant women. Research shows interesting results of Spirulina on pathologic illneses like cancers and other serious diseases.

Sharana Spirulina farm is a few kilometers away from Pondicherry in the middle of rice plantations.

The seaweed is grown then dried, in a solar drying installation. Available as tablets or capsules, and can be found at Bon Appétit, Nirvana Boutique, Vijay Ganapathi and Herbal Health.
