The Shop
Geethanjali is a shop where one finds various colonial furniture, the Chola style bronze sculptures, famous Tanjore paintings, intricately carved wooden doors and pillars, carved panels in wood and stone and much more.Three generations before, a fine ivory sculptor, [ the great-grand- father of Geethanjali’s present owner], started selling his creations in Kodaikanal in 1920. With the banning of ivory in the eighties the business diversified into Antiques and Colonial furniture. The collections come from many ancient dilapidated houses and respected families from all over South India.
