The Gingi's Fort is impossible to miss during a trip in Pondichery. Situated about 65 km from Pondy, on the road to Thiruvannamalai, this fort of 9th century, was built by the Chola Dynasty.

Around 1620 the Danes set up a trading Colony, approximately 150 Kms South of Pondicherry on the Coast-  Tranquebar. The English colonized it later circa 1845. Today, the fort and the ghost like village are a pleasant and interesting place to visit. The fort provides a small museum with a few artifacts and a lot of material to read. Not so many interesting things to do but a nice place for a quiet week-end.
