The Gingi's Fort is impossible to miss during a trip in Pondichery. Situated about 65 km from Pondy, on the road to Thiruvannamalai, this fort of 9th century, was built by the Chola Dynasty. If you want to have a day outsides doing a nice walk, we advise you to go there early in the morning, with good shoes and hats to climb on the two hills which get to the forts.

Walls compound surround three fortified rocks, the most majestuous is the Raj Giri by which it is common to start, it is around 300m. It has also the benefit to have some shade places, really useful to have a break. The other fort, the Krishna Giri is thinner but the rise is precipitous as it is a loooong stair without shadow. The third one is like inexistant, besides nobody visit it.

To know : the price ticket to enter is 5 rs for Indian people and 100 rs for foreigners and it contains the visit of the two forts. Be careful to the monkeys, there is a lot, there are not annoying but are looking for food, don't let something colored from your bag, which can be considered as a biscuit pack.
